It’s my first day back at work after almost 10 days of holidaying. First, in Coorg with the family, then the weekend with Studmuffin’s friends in Bangalore and then a day in the new house.
Much has changed since I was last here. Politically, personally and professionally.
Arvind Kejriwal is the new Chief Minister of Delhi, against all predictions about him. He is young, well educated (IIT, IIM) and energetic. He even says all the right things, makes the right noises, coughs at appropriate intervals right into the mike in press conferences, tweets unabashedly and peppers the phrase “hum ko to rajneeti nahi aati” everytime there’s potential for any skepticism in the room.
The old guard is waking up to his fashionable antics and curated idealism. Hopefully he can make them lose their complacency and shake them into some execution focused action. That’s all the good he can do. (Al though he has also become a healthy distraction from all the hoopla of Modi. The eyeballs are divided for a change and that can only be good.)
I don’t know why I am so cynical about him. There’s something in his eyes I don’t trust. And I most certainly don’t like his socialist tendencies.
Professionally, things have been frustrating. The team is growing but there’s little progress on approvals. There’s enough scum lining the system. Land is equally difficult to come by. I’m a little tired of everything. I don’t have the enthusiasm I want my team to display. It feels like the lull that’s refusing to end.
Personally, it’s pretty much the same. We’ve moved into the new house. There are some unresolved thoughts on some issues but I need more time to chew on those before spewing them out. Another day, maybe.
